NJSBDC Advocacy
Small businesses are vital to the strength of New Jersey's economy, creating a majority of new jobs, generating taxes and delivering valuable services. Please see our prior 2006 legislative report: "Strategic Blueprint for Small Business Growth: Strengthening Business Opportunities in New Jersey"
ACTION ALERT TO HELP SAVE STATE FUNDING FOR THE NJSBDC
- The Governor’s proposed budget eliminates the entire $1 million in state funding for the NJSBDC small business assistance program;
- If the state funds are not restored by the Legislature during the budget process which must consider the FY 2008-2009 budget and appropriations bill by June 30th, the NJSBDC will lose almost $1 million in additional federal funds since this program requires a dollar for dollar match.
- Such a serious funding reduction will result in service levels to small businesses being cut by half or more of its current level!
