| Goals | Do’s | Don’t |
| Practical | We want to provide educational and informational ideas, citing real life examples where possible. | Not overly academic or purely theoretical. |
| Rea$onable |
Recommendations may require investment or realignment of budgetary resources. |
Must not include multi-million dollar “solutions” or pricey features without a foreseeable ROI. |
| Strategic | Reference business plan and current economic/industry trends with one to three year outlook. | Projections should have a realistic basis, not conjecture. Break even point should be within two years for a new venture or business activity. |
| Legal | Describes established procedures that are permissible and acceptable. | We can’t advise questionable practices that could mean trouble for entrepreneurs |
| Innovative | Describe what’s working for your business or clients. New trends and concepts are great. |
Must entail sound business practices and a plan for sustained success, not just short term profits. |
| Ethical | Solves problem for targeted market segment, providing a service for society in general or benefits specific needy/worthy group. | See “Legal” above for starters then consider whether product, good, and/or service provides benefits to others. |
| Technology | Utilize current technology to enhance efficiencies. Can be technology businesses. | Descriptions won’t help our reader if they’re overly technical or filled with jargon. Shouldn’t be entirely industry specific. |
| General | Offer solutions or at least describe strategies that entrepreneurs can understand or implement on their own | Can’t be purely advertising for specific good/service/product offered by author. |
