NJSBDC Procurement Program Fact Sheet

The Procurement program of the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers network offers consulting and other assistance to established small businesses who are interested in selling their goods and services to the federal, state, or local government and corporations. Clients are assisted with one-to-one consulting, workshops and seminars, andreferrals to Government and corporate contracting web sites and supplier diversity or purchasing representatives.

The NJSBDC Procurement Program works closely with the two Procurement Technical Assistance Centers in New Jersey and other small business and techanical assistance organizations by joint referral and co-sponsorship of workshops. Additionally, the Annual Procurement Expo, which draws over 400 people is produced by the Procurement Program.

Specialized consulting is available in rules and regulations, eligibility bid preparation, electronic commerce, and contract management. Workshops range from the most general and introductory in nature to topics narrowly defined by a specific field of interest. With the Federal government, the NJSBDC Procurement program assists clients with 8(a), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), HUBZone and Service Disabled Veteran (SDV) preference programs, proposal preparation and general contracting information. For state and local contracts, clients are assisted with Small Business Enterprise (SBE) registration, Selective Assistance Vendor Information (SAVI or SBE) registration, Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WBE/MBE) certification and proposal preparation. General information on corporate procurement processes, vendor registration and supplier diversity programs is dessiminated via individual counseling sessions, workshops, and matchmakers.

To enhance the assistance available to small businesses across the state, the NJSBDC Procurement program maintains a detailed bibliography of web sites, procurement books, articles, and other material to enable clients to research specific procurement topics.
